If using a Montana driver's license as identification to board a flight, be sure to check if it is a REAL ID-compliant license.

Current, unexpired Montana drivers’ licenses or IDs that are not REAL-ID compliant will be accepted by the Transportation Security Administration to board domestic, commercial flights and access federal facilities until May 7, 2025.   Travelers wishing to use the Montana drivers' licenses as identification should have a REAL-ID compliant license by May 3, 2023.

Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, or another acceptable form of ID will be required to fly within the United States.  To find out what other alternative forms of identification will be accepted, visit the TSA website at: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification.
